2001 Preview

For the 2001 cross country season, Coach Ed Flynn has planned a challenging racing schedule which includes weekly city meets and four remaining invitationals.
Race highlights are sure to be the two out-of-town races. Once again, the team heads to New York, but this year the city is Rochester for the McQuade Invitational on September 29. With over 5,000 runners from seven different states, McQuade offers a competitive, challenging atmosphere. Two weeks later is the Glory Days Grill Invitational (October 13) in Bull Run, Virginia. Although it is a smaller race, Glory Days’ close proximity to Washington, D.C. will give the team an array of activites to choose from for after the race.
In addition to McQuade and Glory Days, Allderdice will compete in the Uniontown Invitational (September 22) at Penn State-Uniontown and the Central Catholic Invitational (October 6), which is the largest race in western Pennsylvania.
This year’s season will keep the runners busy, but such consistent racing practice should give ‘Dice the advantage at the Pittsburgh City League (October 20) and Pennsylvania State Championships (November 3).
